Delicious and Nutritious Overnight Oats: A Breakfast Game Changer
Welcome to another edition of health and wellness cooking with Ben! Today, I’ll be sharing my current breakfast routine that combines the best of both worlds: smoothies and overnight oats. While I still enjoy a smoothie every now and then, I've been leaning more towards a delightful concoction of overnight oats that packs a nutritional punch. Let’s dive into how to prepare this simple yet satisfying meal!
Why Overnight Oats?
Overnight oats are not only convenient but also customizable, allowing you to pack in various nutrients to kickstart your day. After interviewing Michael Chernell on my podcast, I discovered his range of overnight oats that come in multiple flavors, each loaded with beneficial ingredients. My current favorite is the Peanut Butter Banana flavor, which includes oats, pumpkin seeds, pea protein, banana pieces, chia seeds, salt, Dutch cocoa, probiotics, and vitamin D3. Talk about starting the day with phenomenal cosmic power!
Preparing Your Overnight Oats
Here’s how I prepare my overnight oats:
- Batch Preparation: I like to prepare enough for three days. For this, I use three packets of my favorite overnight oats.
- Add Extras: I boost the nutritional value by adding colostrum. I use two scoops of colostrum per packet. Colostrum is known for its immune-boosting properties.
- Protein Boost: As a protein enthusiast, I also add one scoop of Keon Clean Whey Protein for an additional 20g of protein per serving.
- Water for Consistency: I pour hot water (between 180°F and 190°F) into the jar, filling it close to the top. This helps achieve a thick consistency.
- Mix and Store: Stir well, seal the jar, and let it sit overnight on the counter for approximately eight hours. This process is similar to making traditional overnight oats.
Enjoying Your Breakfast
In the morning, I take a third of the jar, place it in a bowl or a large mug, and top it with coconut flakes and cacao nibs. The entire breakfast comes out to around 600 calories and approximately 50g of protein, making it feel like a dessert while being incredibly nutritious!
Conclusion
Overnight oats are a versatile and easy breakfast option that can be tailored to meet your nutritional needs. Whether you prefer the Peanut Butter Banana flavor or any of the other options, this meal is sure to keep you energized and satisfied throughout the morning.
