Welcome to the Docs Who Lift Podcast
Welcome back to the Docs Who Lift Podcast! I’m your host, Dr. Spencer Nadolsky, alongside my co-host, Dr. Carl Nski. In this episode, we dive into some significant updates regarding our medical practices, exploring our transition from traditional healthcare frameworks to a more innovative and patient-focused approach.
The Transition in Practice
As many of you might know, I was previously involved with Sequence, a company that aimed to provide comprehensive weight management and metabolic care. I initially had a significant role in developing this practice, growing it rapidly to serve thousands of patients. Recently, I transitioned out of that role to pursue a more in-depth approach to patient care, particularly focusing on cardiometabolic health.
Why Hybrid Models Matter
In our discussions, we emphasize the need for a hybrid model in healthcare that combines both brick-and-mortar services with virtual consultations. This model has been gaining traction, especially post-pandemic, as it allows for greater accessibility and efficiency in managing chronic conditions like obesity and diabetes.
Challenges in Current Healthcare Systems
The current healthcare system, particularly with insurance frameworks, poses challenges in delivering high-quality care. Many patients express dissatisfaction with the accessibility and depth of care provided by their primary care physicians. As healthcare providers, we recognize the need to offer more personalized and intensive therapeutic options.
Financial Viability and Membership Models
We discuss the potential for a membership model that allows for more personalized care. This approach would enable patients to pay a fee that supports longer visits and dedicated attention without being constrained by the traditional fee-for-service model. This is particularly important for those needing intensive therapy for conditions such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Looking Ahead: New Opportunities
As we move forward, I’m excited to announce that we are setting up a new specialty endocrinology department that will focus on diabetes, obesity management, and overall metabolic health. This new venture aims to foster a more integrated approach to patient care, emphasizing the importance of lifestyle, nutrition, and exercise in managing chronic diseases.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the healthcare landscape is shifting, and we are committed to evolving our practices to meet the needs of our patients better. We’ll continue to explore innovative solutions and share our journey with you as we develop a model that prioritizes patient care, accessibility, and financial viability.
